Featured in this lot is this ceramic plate called "Bird Soldier #5," circa 2001 from Cree/Chippewa artist Glen La Fontaine born in 1947. The plate features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ceramic construction. The a painted figure of a Native American man with a blue face and feathers in his hand with a bird above him. The plate is marked on the bottom of the piece as follows: Bird Soldier #5 - La Fontaine - 1-15-2001; and features an original display tag on the bottom. The condition of this plate is good with a slight mark to the underside of the rim probably made while sculpting but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this 2" x 11" x 11". The collective weight of this plate is 3lb 4oz. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery.
