Offered in this lot is a wonderful polychrome, flattened, rounded form with shaped collar, nice medium to large size pot made and signed by Gloria Kahe. Gloria Kahe was born into the Navajo Nation in 1951. She is a Navajo who married Samuel Kahe, a Hopi. Gloria learned from one of the respected masters of clay of the Hopi reservation, her mother-in-law, the Arizona Living Treasure, Marcella Kahe, and has been making pottery since 1986. Gloria is so steeped in Hopi tradition that she has been accepted as a Hopi potter. Her pottery is Hopi in materials, hand-coiling technique, hand-painting, hand polishing and appearance. Her cross-cultural influences and fine workmanship cause her pottery to be in high demand. This seed pot has an elaborate geometrical design pattern with black and red symbols on the upper half of the pot. The pot has the classical small opening and wide center. The pot has a smooth, polished finish with minor scuffs on the outer ring of the pot. The pot measures 4 1/2" tall X 7” across.
