Featured in this lot are four single page, Great Northern Railway calendars from the year 1928, with artwork by Wilfred Langdon Kihn (1898-1957). Wilfred Langdon Kihn was a portrait painter and illustrator specializing in portraits of American Indians. In the 1920s and 1930s, Kihn traveled extensively in the West, especially in Montana, where he spent time among the Blackfeet Nation. He had a brief collaboration with the Great Northern Railway when contracts between the GNRR & Winold Reiss were shaky. These single pages were once connected to a full calendar but this lot features the months of January, February, March & April of 1928. The artworks included on the calendars are as follows: Night Shoots - Blackfeet Brave, Mountain Chief - Blackfeet Brave, Blackfeet Mother and Little Plume - Blackfeet Indian Chieftain. They are marked with various sayings and feature the "Great Northern" logo with the mountain goat set in the center. They show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. Crease lines are present and wear is present to the corners and edges. Slight tears present, but no major rips or holes noted. They measure 22" L x 10 1/8" W and have a collective weight of under 6 ounces.
