For your consideration is a graduated sleigh bells with rich brown leather strap. The bells are firmly set to the leather strap, and shake with a gorgeous, reverberating tone. The bells are smallest towards to outsides, and grow larger as you get closer to the middle. The smallest bells are marked "No. 6", and hit "No. 7", "No. 10", and end with the largest "No. 11" with a total of 13 bells. These straps were often fixed to the reigns of a large carriage, to alert pedestrians of the oncoming traffic. The bells and belt are in good condition, the brass has a nice warm patina. The leather strap is in good condition with slight cracking towards the buckle end. The sleigh bells are believed to originate from as early as the last quarter of the 19th century. The piece measures approximately 47" long with a 2 1/2" leather strap. The largest bell measures approximately 3" in diameter and the smallest at 2"
