The lot features a gunstock ward club with double headed duck effigy carving from the Great Lakes region Native American Indians. The war club is said to have an early age. The war club shows a Revolutionary War style gunstock pattern with three spontoon knife blade projectiles being affixed with a pine sap and saw dust mixture. The war club is covered in a rich red mineral pigment ocher paint and shows over 100 iron round shank brass covered tacks in circle and cross patterns. The club shows various yellow white heart wound glass trade pony beads imbedded into the stock included at the center of the trade tack circles and as the eyes for the ducks. At the end of the club shows a double duck head pattern with the section between the heads protruding into the club several inches giving a very unique look. At the outside of the heads are three each (total of six) red dyed horse hair accents. The club has a pasted-on museum or collection identification note stating, “Ceremonial with duck head handle.” The piece shows a unique design with artful adornments. The exact age is unknown. From a large Kansas Native American artifacts and weapons collection. Measures 5" wide and 30.5" long.
