Presented in this lot is a Great Northern Railway Ephemera Collection, circa 1940s and 1960s. Included three (3) GNRR Empire Builder calendars: 1949, 1960, and 1965. Also included are Empire Builder menus from 1940 and 1941. The menu covers feature the work of Weinold Reiss (1886-1953) from his "Blackfeet Indian" portfolio. In all, Reiss made more than 250 original paintings of Native Americans, mostly of the Blackfeet. In later years, his artwork was used on Great Northern Railway calendars. The Great Northern Railway was an American railroad running from St. Paul, Minnesota to Seattle, Washington from 1889 to 1970 when it merged with the Northern Pacific and two other railroads to form the Burlington Northern Railroad which after additional mergers in 1996 became the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway. This collection is in nice overall condition, age tanning and slight moisture staining observed. Calendars are mounted on cardboard and wrapped in protective film. Calendars measure 25.5 - 26"W x 42"L, backing measures 27"W x 43"L. Collective weight is 4lb, 6oz.
