For your consideration in this lot is a set of naturally "florescent" green, multi-faceted Vaseline trade bead strands. Vaseline Beads are a variety of Czech trade beads originally manufactured in Bohemia (present day Czechoslovakia) between the late 19th and early 20th century. Vaseline Beads are also known as “Uranium Glass Beads”, owing to the small quantities of uranium oxide diuranate and additional fluorescing colorants, such as manganese and iron, infused into the glass at the molten stage. Vaseline glass is not harmful—you are exposed to more radiation from nature walking outdoors than you could get from the glass! There are 28 beads averaging in size 1/2" X 5/8". This strand is 14" long. The next strand includes 27 beads whose average size is 1/2" X 5/8". This strand is also 14" long. The next two strands are both 10 1/2" long. Both strands have 22 beads. These beads are on average 1/2" X 5/8". The last strand consists of 10 beads and is 8" long. These beads are the same size as all the others, but are of a clearer glass with less of the fluorescent elements inside (they have very little glow). All of the beads are in fair condition for their age, showing some wear.
