For sale in this lot is a pair of antique cast iron Griswold waffle irons, consisting of one American number 8, and a Heart Star #18. The set includes one 8" matching base. The 8" Number 18 heart star waffle iron features a slant Griswold logo, and reads; "Heart - Star - Erie, PA - No - U.S.A. - 18 - PAT'D - May-18-20 - 919". The 8" Number 8 also displays the slant logo, and reads; "American - No 8 - Griswold - The Griswold MFG. CO. - Erie PA. U.S.A. - PAT'D DEC 1. 1908" - 314". Lastly, the base is marked on the bottom; "9130 - 8 -The Griswold MFG. CO. ERIE, PA.. U.S.A.". The waffle irons show good original condition, with no apparent restoration. The Number 18, and the cast iron base do show patina indicative of age, but could be buffed out nicely. The Heart Star originates from the 1920's, while the American is circa 1909-. While sitting in the base, with the handle folded down, the Number 8 measures 16 3/4" long, 1 3/4" tall, and 10" wide at the bottom of the base.
