By the turn of the Century, Griswold cast iron was recognized world wide for being top quality. Today, Griswold cast iron is highly sought after by collectors as well as those seeking high quality cast iron cookware. This Dutch oven dates to circa. 1920. The top of the lid is plain, with a center handle. The markings on the inside are very faint. The number "8" is struck clearly, "Self Basting", "1288" and the Griswold logo are very faint. The bottom of the pot is marked "Cast Iron 8 / Tite-Top Dutch Oven/ Erie PA., U.S.A./ 1295". After proper cleaning and seasoning, this pot could still provide many more years of service.
