For your consideration is this H. Boker Co. buffalo hide scale from Germany, circa 19th century. This scale was made in Germany by Henry Boker sometime between the 1830s and 1880s. The scale is made of iron and brass. This Unique Spring “C” Balance, or Mancur Scale, works like it should. Originally, hunters and fur traders used it to weigh hides, but it was later used to weigh cotton bales and other products. The small hook can hold up to 50 pounds and the larger hook can hold up to 400 pounds. It was a lightweight, yet sturdy favorite of Buffalo Hunters, Trappers, Trading Posts, and anyone else needing a compact scale. The condition of this buffalo hide scale is good, with wear and oxidation consistent with its age. The measurements of this hide scale are 10 1/2" x 6" x 3/4".
