H. Pieper 1881 SXS Shotgun - 101 Ranch Marked

The lot features an H. Pieper 1881 double barrel shotgun with exposed side hammer, and side lever breech open. The shotgun stock has a silver brass tacked badge which is stamped 101 Ranch Miller Bros 1893 Bliss O.T. as well as LIL COWBOY BOB and 101. The shotgun is marked on the top rib which runs between each barrels "PIEPER PATENTED APRIL 23, 1881. D (stylized D)". Each side of the receiver plate at the shotgun pistol stock is marked H. PIEPER BIE. The back of the stock has the bakelite shotgun butt is marked H. PIEPER. The firearm has a double trigger, with side exposed hammers. The hammers pull back and click into place, and the triggers release the hammers. The side lever opens the barrels successfully. The trigger guard is wrapped in parfleche rawhide leather. The receiver is marked under the barrel S / 14866 / 12 / T with some Belgian proof marks. The bottom of the barrels is also marked with the serial number and Liege, Belgian proof marks. Bottom of foregrip is marked with the same matching serial number. The age of the silver badge and associating 101 Miller Bros Ranch markings is unknown. Silver content not tested. The shotgun is from the 19th Century and qualifies as an antique, NO FFL. Measures overall 38"L.*
