Featured in this lot we have a H. W.C. Biddle & Co black powder percussion cap rifle chambered in .38 caliber. The rifle was manufactured in the mid 1800's by H. & W.C. Biddle & Co. The rifle shows a heavy 36 1/2" long octagonal barrel, high grade maple stock, percussion cap hammer and lock plate, and brass trigger guard and butt plate. The lock plate is etched with the floral patterns and a hunting dog image with the plate marked "H. & W.C. Biddle & Co Philadelphia". The rifle stock features a space etched in the shape of a masonic square and compass with the inlay missing. Mechanically the rifle shows a good working action with an operational dual trigger system. The maple stock displays some light wear from use and a dark paint or tar finish. The rifle is in good condition overall with some wear and rust due to age and use. No Serial Number. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
