Offered in this lot is a sterling silver bracelet with Haida Tingit story telling Totem symbols. This sterling silver bracelet, designed by Barry Herem, recalls mankind emerging from the giant clamshell. As the story goes, after the great flood, Raven was gorging himself on edibles on the beach. Hearing some strange sounds, he found a giant clamshell with little beings wiggling inside. He crooned and coaxed them out, and they were the first humans. Barry Herem is a Seattle artist who has worked in the Northwest Coast Indian style for many years. He has written about the subject as a reviewer, and as an unofficial ethnographer and archaeologist who has done field work collecting and publishing data about the precontact Tlingit and Haida of Southeast Alaska. The bracelet has a 5 1/2" inside measurement with a 1 1/4" gap and is 7/8" at its wide point. The bracelet weighs 32.9grams and is in very good condition.200
