Featured in this lot are two hand carved wood, folk art walking canes from the mid 20th century. The first walking cane featured in this lot shows a two piece construction, the shaft and the pommel. The pommel is a cylindrical piece of wood screwed into the top of the shaft, acting as a hand hold. It is capped with a rubber cap to improve grip and stability. The second walking cane shows a carved face in the pommel and appears to sport a large beard, acting as an extra grip point. This walking cane shows a darker colored wood than the first. No makers marks or company marks are present on the walking canes. They show good condition overall with slight wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. The first and lighter colored walking cane measures 34" L x 1 7/8" W x 5" D, while the darker colored walking cane measures 35" L x 1 3/4" W x 3 3/8" D. They have a collective weight of 1 pound and 10 ounces.
