For your consideration is this copy of “Harpers Pictorial History of the Civil War”, volumes I and II. The book shows a terra cotta pebbled cloth ruled in blind and titled in gilt. The book is extensively illustrated with nearly 1000 wood engravings and many full pages. There is a two-page colored map in volume I. The ends and corners are frayed and there are a few stains to the boards, as well as ex-library copies (not for circulation) with stamps on text block edges and the tail of spine. The condition of this pair of books is poor, with the spines starting to fray and some of the pages coming out. The book shows browning consistent with age. The measurements of these books are 16 1/4" x 11 1/2" x 1 1/2".
