Featured in this lot is a Henry Elwell Warrented black powder percussion cap rifle chambered in .48 caliber. The rifle displays a 46 1/2" long heavy octagonal barrel, walnut stock, iron trigger guard, dual trigger system, and percussion cap system. The barrel shows a warm brown finish with some pitting and warm aged patina. The lock plate is marked across the front with "HENRY ELWELL WARRENTED" with the back of the lock plate showing floral pattern. The stock shows fair condition overall with cracks and signs of repair with a dark paint or tar finish. Mechanically, the rifle is nonfunctional with the hammer and double triggers not working properly. Overall, the piece shows fair condition with wear and damage due to age and use. No Serial Number.
