This lot presents an original photograph of "Prize Winners 4th July Parade, Polson, Mont. 1919", by Herman Schnitzmeyer, 1919. Herman Schnitzmeyer was a renowned photographer from Polson, Montana who frequently photographed the landscapes and lives of the Western Frontier and Indians, and known for beinga Homestead era photographic artist. This photograph, in a panoramic format, is showing the Salish Mountains in the background of a grain elevator and in the foreground are four horse-mounted Flathead Indian men with native attire and war bonnets alongside four horse-mounted Flathead Indian women also attired in native clothing on the right, one bearing an American flag. Other mounted Indians are directly behind; the first 4th of July parade was celebrated in 1909.
The photograph is mounted shadow-box style in a vintage gilt edged decorated wood frame, the gilt is still uniform. No damage nor marring noted, measures 11.5"L x 5.5"W
