For your consideration are two Hildebrandt's Spinners and Flies cardboard poster advertisements circa 1940-50s. Hildebrandt got their start in 1899 through patriarch John J. Hildebrandt. Hildebrandt started with straight shaft spinners and then ventured into other forms of spinners. Where Hildebrandt really shone, was in the way he made his blades. He stamped them out of thick brass and then plated them with pure gold, silver, and genuine copper. The thick metal base coupled with the pure elemental silver and gold made for a blade that would not tarnish and would hold up to hitting rocks and other debris. Hildebrandt was owned by the family into the early 2000s before selling out to Yakima Bait, another family-owned business. The first in this collection shows a scene of two fishermen in a boat, while one hooks a large fish as it jumps out of the water. Around the center piece are ten photos of people posing with their catches. The top reads, "Hildebrandt's Spinners and Flies / The Old Stand-bys for all Game and Pan Fish" while the bottom reads, "Hildebrandt Makes 'Em in Logansport, Indiana". The sign has an easel back to stand the sign up. The second in this collection shows a man named Slim Eli, smoking a pipe while sitting on a rock getting his fishing rod ready. The poster shows a green background and features eight photos at the top of people with their catches. The top reads, "Hildebrandt's Spinners and Flies / The Old Stand-bys for all Game and Pan Fish" while the bottom reads, "Slim Eli Says: The hull secrete of catchin' fish is knowin where to go - when to go - what baits to use an; how to use 'em; and I'm tellin' ye that Hildebrandt's gen'ally get 'em for me. / Hildebrandt makes 'em in Logansport, Ind.". The sign has an easel back to stand the sign up. Both signs show good condition overall with very little wear present and no signs of obvious damage. The posters measure 14" L x 10 7/8" W.
