Featured in this lot is this original, historic Mescalero Apache Chief Nautzili photograph circa 19th century. The photograph features a wonderfully and professionally crafted photo albumen construction that shows the Apache Chief wearing traditional garments with trade cloth wrap and hide blouse with trade necklaces and a fine hide wrapped shield with pictorial figures painted on it and a long bladed lance in his left hand, the Chief shows a bear skin hide rug at his feet and a tree behind him. The photograph is marked as follows: Apache Chief. The condition of this of this photograph shows a tear in the right side of the photograph and some fading to the photo consistent with some age but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this photograph is 5 1/2" x 3 3/4".
