For your consideration is this first volume of three entitled "History of Montana", by Helen Fitzgerald Sanders; published in 1913. Volume I has 847 pages, including the Appendix. Some chapter titles include, "Name--Boundaries--Topography--Climate--Scenery"; "Primitive Montana and its Aboriginal Inhabitants"; "Lewis and Clark"; "The Fur Trade"; "The Days of the Great Range"; The Indians of Montana at the Present Time--Opening of the Reservations"; and many more, including. chapters on Yellowstone, Glacier, and The National Bison Range. The book is beautifully bound on leather with gilt lettering on the spine and gilt top edge. The book has some photos, including a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of the author. This volume is in fine condition, having a tight binding and excellent hinges; does have some minor rubbing on the boards. Measures 8" x 11" x 2 1/8".
