For your consideration is this 1881 first edition of, "Legends, Traditions and Laws, of the Iroquois, or Six Nations, and History of the Tuscarora Indians" by Johnson, Elias, A Native Tuscarora Chief published by the Union Printing And Publishing Co. in Lockport, New York. Before Europeans settled New York in the 1600's, the then Five Nations of the Iroquois lived under a constitution that went on to greatly influence the young American nation. This book is written by Chief Elias Johnson, known as Lone Pine Tree, for the purpose of defending Native American character and explaining the customs of the Six Nations. The book features a hardcover with gold gilt embossed lettering and image of a Native American man. The book is in fair condition with the front cover and the first couple pages completely disconnected. The interior pages have browning and foxing but the text is still very readable. The book measures 9" L x 5 3/4" W x 11/16" D.
