Featured in this lot is this Hopewell prehistoric winged bannerstone circa 200 bce - 500 ce. The bannerstone shows wonderfully and professionally crafted construction with flecked minerals of light green and a much darker green with flecks of darker red throughout the piece with sharp shoulders and bottom segments and shows a cylindrical center piece of the bannerstone. The condition of this bannerstone is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this bannerstone is 2 1/4" x 5 3/8" x 7/8". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identifying#: E1072.
