Included in this lot is a signed Hopi, Caroline Tawangyaouma, Mojave and sterling silver necklace. Mojave turquoise is primarily found in the Kingman mine located in the heart of Kingman, Arizona. This mine is famous for its stabilized turquoise, which is turquoise that has been enhanced with epoxy that deepens the natural color of the stone. This process also involves a hydraulic press, which assembles turquoise nuggets by introducing a bronze metal matrix. Mojave turquoise is among these stabilized turquoise stones and is said to be the only stone available that features a real metal matrix and real Arizona turquoise. This beautiful necklace features three polished, triangular cut cabochons of Mojave turquoise set into a shadowbox setting. This stunning turquoise showcases a fantastic array of colors, ranging from deep purples to light baby blues. The stabilization of this turquoise incorporates the copper vein matrix. The lariat cabochons are surrounded by a silver, hand-stamped border. The back of these cabochons are stamped "CT Sterling" for artist Caroline Tawangyaouma. This necklace is in good condition, showing no signs of wear or scratches. The largest cabochons measures 1" by 1" and the chain measures 21" unclasped.
