Featured in this lot is a beautiful, Hopi polychrome pottery vase made by Hopi member, Fawn Navasie-Garcia, formerly know as Little Fawn in the 1980-1990s. Fawn Navasie-Garcia was born in 1959 on the Hopi Reservation. Her late mother, the well-known "Eunice (original Fawn) Navasie," motivated her to carry on the family pottery legacy. Eunice taught Fawn the foundations of traditional Hopi pottery-making. Fawn has been producing pottery since 1979, specializing in exquisite polychrome buff or yellow slipped ceramics. Fawn coils come in a wide variety of shapes, including wedding vases, egg-shaped pots, and bowls. Her designs are inspired by the Sikyatki Ruins (a historic hamlet on the Hopi reserve located two miles north of First Mesa known for its golden dirt). The vase shows Southwest geometric designs throughout in colors of red / brown, beige and brown. It is signed on the bottom reading, "Little Fawn". The piece shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no damage noted. It measures 5 1/4" L x 5 1/4" W x 6 5/8" H and weighs 1lb 4 oz.*
