Featured in this lot is this Hopi Pueblo Indian thread woven basket circa 1950 to 1960's. The basket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted thread wqith blended construction but is expertly woven to include geometric patterns to the side walling and the lid of the basket. The Hopi people, primarily located in northeastern Arizona, are renowned for their intricate and culturally significant basket weaving. Their basketry is deeply rooted in tradition and is often crafted with meticulous care and skill. Historically, Hopi weavers used natural materials such as cotton for thread, willow for the core structure, and various dyes made from local plants to color their threads. In modern times, some weavers might use synthetic threads as well. The condition of this Hopi basket is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this basket is 3 5/8" x 6 1/4" x 6 1/4". The collective weight of this basket is 4oz.
