Included in this lot are Victorian Era Horse Brasses (4) and and an Ornate Brass Easel-style Mirror / Picture Frame, circa early to mid 1900s. A horse brass is a brass plaque used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. They became especially popular in England from the mid-19th century until their general decline alongside the use of the draft horse, and remain collectors items today. The most popular size is 3" × 3.5" of flat brass with a hanger by which the brass is threaded onto a horse harness strap, known as a martingale. Two have the image of an elephant, one features a feline and the last is a fish. Two of these horse brasses are the standard size, another is 2.75" x 3.5", the last is 4.5" x 5.25". The ornate vintage brass easel tabletop mirror / picture frame resembles early Bradley & Hubbard styling, wonderful workmanship showing 5 gargoyle/lion faces, swirls, and heart-like shapes; this is a heavy frame/mirror. Swing arm stand below and hanging attachment on upper back of frame. Rich patina observed, mirror not included. Measures 9.5"W x 12.75"H, combined weight is 3lb, 2oz.
