For your consideration are five books written by Victor Appleton, also know as Howard Roger Garis from his "Tom Swift" series circa 1910-1929. Howard R. Garis (born April 25, 1873 in Binghamton, New York, U.S.—died November 6, 1962 in Amherst, Massachusetts) was an American novelist who created the Uncle Wiggily series of children's books. Garis began his newspaper career with the Newark Evening News in 1896. Shortly after, he started composing bedtime stories about Uncle Wiggily, a rabbit hero, and his buddies. He wrote one story per day (except Sunday) until he retired in 1947. In total, he wrote almost 15,000 stories and approximately 500 books. Garis wrote the Tom Swift series, although they were published under the house alias "Victor Appleton". The books included in this lot are as follows, "Tom Swift and His Submarine Boat" (1910), "Tom Swift and His Electric Runabout" (1910), "Tom Swift and His Great Search Light" (1912), "Tom Swift and His War Tank" (1918), "Tom swift and His House On Wheels" (1929). All five books were copy-righted by Grosset & Dunlap Incorporated. They show good condition overall with some wear present to the covers and spines of the books, but no major signs of damage is noted to the books. Interior pages show good condition with slight wear present on some pages. They measure 7 5/8" L x 5 1/4" W x 1 1/8" D and have a collective weight of 3 pounds and 14 ounces.
