Featured in this lot is this Hudson Bay Co. eight point wool trade blanket circa 1950's. The blanket shows iconic point blanket design with colors of blue, yellow, red, and green set to a white field and features silk edges. Although the points did not originally assign a value to the blanket, over time, traders used the points to determine how many beaver pelts it could be traded for. At first, one point equaled one beaver pelt. By the early 1700s, the blankets represented more than half of the items traded for animal hides. The condition of this Hudson Bay Co. blanket is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this blanket is 84" x 67".
