Featured in this lot is this Hudson Bay Company four point trade wool blanket. The blanket shows the Hudson Bay Company tag and original construction, indicating that it was made in England. This is a red wool blanket with two large stripes of black on both sides of the blanket. Although the Hudson Bay Company didn't originate the point system for trade blankets, they popularized this system of quality identification. In the days of fur trapping and trading, a four point blanket would be exchanged for four beaver hides. This blanket shows four points as black stripes on the left hand side of the blanket. The condition of this blanket is in good condition overall, with some wear across the tag and show some stains throughout the blanket. This Hudson Bay blanket measures 82" wide by 62" long.
