These are large, Hudson Bay White Heart, “Cornaline d'Aleppo” exotic trade beads dating to the 16th-17th Century. These 1600-1800’s beads are regularly referred to as “white hearts” due to the opaque white core at the “heart” or center of each bead that is finished with a red semi-translucent outer shell (showing the white partially through). This outstanding strand shows an unusually large size with a very rare, shiny, semi-transparent outer shell. The strand consists of tightly braided straw strands. There are over 500 antique, original Hudson Bay Fur Trading Company, exotic glass trade beads. The measurements of each necklace range from 12 1/2" to 13" top knot to tip.
