For your consideration is this Vintage Hudson's Bay Four Point Wool Trade Blanket. Showing a beautifully crafted wool construction to this blanket all done in a iconic Hudson's Bay design with four points along the side of the blanket. The number of points indicates the size of the blanket. Although the points did not originally assign a value to the blanket, over time, traders used the points to determine how many beaver pelts it could be traded for. At first, one point equaled one beaver pelt. By the early 1700s, the blankets represented more than half of the items traded for animal hides. The blanket shows a white background with different colored stripes of black, yellow, red and green. The four points are on one side of the the blanket. The intact tag can be found in the corner of the blanket. The condition of this blanket is good with some slight wear from its use and age but no signs of obvious damage are noted. The blanket measures 72" W x 92"L.
