Featured in this lot is this extraordinary, natural, VVS Quality tanzanite and diamond, 14K necklace. The center stone shows a rare VVS Quality and exceptional color. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). This nice estate piece is marked “14K RT D1.91” at the pendant and “PT950 ITALY” at the necklace clasp. The solid 14 karat white gold necklace pendant shows the 11.23 carat weight Tanzanite stone with a round modified brilliant cut, type I eye clean fine clarity, and outstanding violetish-blue medium-dark color. The pendant also shows a fine high craftsmanship with elaborate diamond lattice gallery and several bezel tiers in an art deco, classic design set with many bright diamonds. It is also accented by the diamond set bail with snap locking clasp. Overall, the pendant shows one hundred twenty-eight prong set, round brilliant cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 1.91 carats, clarity of SI-1 to I-1, and color of G-I. The necklace is a nice PT950 platinum rope chain. The pendant shows a total stone weight of 13.14 carats and weighs 26.33 grams overall; it has a solid platinum and 14k white gold make. The piece comes complete with IAS (Independent Appraisals Services, a GIA certified lab IAS Appraisal Number#: 131420EW) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $40,200.00. The measurements of this necklace from clasp to clasp are 18" and the pendant measures 1 3/4" x 1 1/4".
