Featured in this lot is an Imperial German WWI Infantry Pickelhaube Helmet with the Grand Duchy of Baden dated 1914. The helmet features an aged steel front plate (wappen) with the Crowned Heraldic Griffin clutching a sword and resting on the Baden state shield. Below this is the Grand Duchy's motto "MIT GOTT F. FUERST U. VATERLAND" (With God for Prince, or Grand Duke, and Fatherland). The front leather visor has oxidized steel trim has a small dent on this inside of the visor. The metal spine that descends from the spike's base plate to the edge of the rear visor is in good condition. Rear visor is worn and slightly warped. Interior liner is in good condition. Inside the helmet, it is marked "59" and appears to have a date marked "8.?.XIV" and possibly a name "Seyfarhh". Overall this helmet is in good condition and would make a fine addition to any collection. The measurements are 10" L x 7 1/2" W x 6" H and has a circumference of approximately 23".
