Offered in this lot we have a iron Chicago railroad switch stand. A railroad switch is the section where the tracks split in to two separate tracks. The stand was used to change the direction of the rail switch, and also acts as the indicator of the direction that the track currently going. The switch stand is constructed out of iron with a leaver used to lock in to one of the two sides. The stand is marked across the top of the shift plate, reading "No. 6 Star Stand Chicago." There is also an undistinguishable mark in between the markings mentioned before. The piece is in good condition and shows signs of age an use, the paint on the sign has faded and the iron has spots of rust color. It measures 72" tall by 26"x12.25" wide base and 17.5" diameter sign.
