Offered in this lot we have a iron Chicago railroad switch stand. A railroad switch is the section where the tracks split in to two separate tracks. The stand was used to change the direction of the rail switch, and also acts as the indicator of the direction that the track currently going. The switch stand is constructed out of iron with a leaver used to lock in to one of the two sides. The stand is marked across the top of the shift plate, reading "Star Stand Pat-D - PM. CO- Chicago - 457". The piece is in good condition and was recently refinished. It measures 75" tall by 22" wide by 11" deep with the sign measuring 17 3/4" in diameter.
