Featured in this lot is this framed original, oil on board painting done by renowned Native American painter Irving James Toddy (1951-2020). Irving James Toddy (1951–2020) was a renowned Navajo (Diné) painter and illustrator born on February 4, 1951, in Ganado, Arizona. As the son of famous artist Beatien Yazz, he became known for his realistic "Gallup Realist" style, focusing on landscapes and Navajo life. He passed away in Farmington, New Mexico, on November 25, 2020. This oil painting on board is titled, "Two Brothers" and shows two older, Native American men in a portrait style. They are wearing cowboy hats, collared shirts and turquoise necklaces. One looks directly towards the viewer with a bright look on his face and the other looks slightly to the left of the viewer with a more somber look. They are set against a dark blue background. The artist signature can be seen in the bottom right hand corner in orange reading, "Irving Toddy". It is set in a wood frame. The visible artwork measures 9 1/4" L x 11 3/4" W, while the entire piece measures 11 3/8" L x 13 3/4" W x 1 5/8" D. It has a total weight of 1 pound 6 ounces.
