J.C. Higgins Model 44 .22 LR Lever Action Rifle

Featured in this lot we have a J.C. Higgins Model 44 lever action rifle chambered in .22 LR. The rifle was manufactured around the late 1960's by Marlin. The J.C. Higgins is almost identical in design to the Marlin model 57 and was even manufactured by the same company with the model number of 103.19880. The primary difference between the two models is the ammunition with the Model 44 firing .22 long rifle rather than the model 57's .22 magnum. The rifle shows a 22" long round barrel, lever action, under barrel tube magazine, walnut stock, and adjustable rear sight. The barrel is marked across the side reading " J.C. Higgins 22 CAL S.L. & L.R. MOD. 44 DL 103.19880 Sfars, Roebuck And Co". Mechanically the rifle shows working condition with a functional trigger and action. The piece shows fair condition for its age with some wear and pitting across the barrel and lever with some damage to the butt stock. Serial Number: NSN. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
