Included in this lot is a J. & T.J. Egan trapdoor carbine. J. & T.J. Egan were gun makers and dealers in Nova Scotia. Located on 177 Upper Water Street in Halifax they were the leading Nova Scotia family of gun makers. The rifle has a 16mm chamber indicative of the .50-90 Sharps rifle cartridge. This trapdoor rifle features a 20” round barrel with fixed front sight and three flip up elevation rear sights. The carbine also showcases some spectacular deluxe walnut one piece hardwood stock with a checkered straight grip. The buttstock is fit with a metal butt plate. The right side plate is engraved with “J & T.J. Egan. Halifax, N.S.” The left of the barrel near the trap door is stamped with multiple cartouche and proof marks. No Serial Number. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
