Offered in this lot is a Jake Runs Buffalo signed Mojave turquoise and sterling silver necklace and earring set. Mojave turquoise is primarily found in the Kingman mine located in the heart of Kingman, Arizona. This mine is famous for its stabilized turquoise, which is turquoise that has been enhanced with epoxy that deepens the natural color of the stone. This process also involves a hydraulic press, which assembles turquoise nuggets by introducing a bronze metal matrix. Mojave turquoise is among these stabilized turquoise stones and is said to be the only stone available that features a real metal matrix and real Arizona turquoise. This beautiful necklace and earring set features polished, triangular cut cabochon of Mojave turquoise set into a shadowbox setting. The cabochon on the earrings measure 1 1/4" x 1/4" and the cabochon on the necklace measures 1 1/4" x 1/4"; the necklace chain is 20” long and is marked 925 on the clasp. This stunning turquoise showcases a fantastic array of colors, ranging from deep purples to light baby blues. The stabilization of this turquoise incorporates the copper vein matrix. The lariat cabochons are surrounded by a silver border. The back of these cabochons are stamped "JRB" for artist Jake Runs Buffalo. This necklace and earrings are in good condition, showing no signs of wear or scratches.
