Featured in this lot we have a WWII Japanese Type 99 Arisaka bolt action rifle chambered in 7.7mm. The Arisaka action might be the most underrated firearm in the Western Hemisphere. These robust rifles culminated in the Type 99, a bolt action second to none. The Arisaka Type 99 would be in the short list for best bolt action rifle of WWII given its strong locking action, chrome barrel, aperture sighting, light but strong stock, and superior steel. This rifle was manufactured from 1939 to 1945 by Arisaka. The rifle features a 32" long round barrel, shortened foregrip on the stock, and leather carry strap. The top of the receiver is stamped with "Kyukyushiki" in Japanese translating to Type 99. The rife shows working mechanical condition with crisp trigger. The rifle shows good condition overall with the front of the stock removed. Serial Number: 18177. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
