Featured in this lot we have a WWII Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Series 2 bolt action rifle with dust cover and chambered in 7.7x58mm. The Arisaka action might be the most underrated firearm in the Western Hemisphere. These robust rifles culminated in the Type 99, a bolt action second to none. the Arisaka Type 99 would be in the short list for best bolt action rifle of WWII given its strong locking action, excellent 7.7mm cartridge, chrome barrel, aperture sighting, light but strong stock, and superior steel. The rifle is in good condition, with use and wear present. The rifle displays a bayonet mount for a Type 30 rifle bayonet, wire monopod, and anti aircraft sighting device on the adjustable rear sights. This rifle was part of the second series produced from Nagoya Arsenal marking its manufacture from between 1939- 1945. The rifle features the Imperial Japanese Army chrysanthemum marking on the top of the receiver with the Japanese Kanji for "Type 99" and the left side of the receiver marked with the serial number between the series stamp and Nagoya Arsenal mark. The rifle shows good condition overall with some wear due to use and age. The rifle weighs 8lbs 6oz. Serial Number: 38965. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
