Featured in this lot is this beautifully crafted, limited edition (11/125) metal Native American shirt done by renowned Blackfeet artist Jay L. Tschudy circa 2013. Tschudy was born on January 31, 1963, in Yucaipa, California, a small town in the foothills of Southern California, as one of nine children. He is descended from the (Chippewa) Blackfeet Native Americans and is a self-taught artist who has sculpted in several mediums including stone, wood, and clay. However, because he was born with just his left hand, making his work with copper, brass, and steel presents a greater challenge. Tschudy had kept his studio and home in Phoenix, Arizona, for more than two decades and now lives in Dolan Springs, Arizona. He draws inspiration from the nearby mountains and the seclusion he currently enjoys in the high desert region. His artworks are currently represented throughout the United States as well as countries around the World in private collections. This piece is constructed from painted brass and features a metal frame on the back. It resembles a Native American Blackfeet hide war shirt. It shows strips of brass hanging off of the sleeves and frayed edges giving the appearance of frayed edges on a shirt. Hammered areas give the appearance of beads and those sections have been painted in colors of yellow, red, orange, blue, white and dark blue colors to give the appearance of colored beads on the shirt. The back of the piece shows a thin metal frame used to reinforce the piece as well hanging purposes. The piece features two tags giving a small write up on the artist and it is signed on the back in white lettering reading, "JLT 2013 # 11/125". The piece shows good condition overall with some wear present from its handling over the years but no major signs of damage are noted. The piece measures 28 2/4" L x 36 1/4" W x 1 3/4" D adn weighs 7 pounds.
