For your consideration in this lot is a wonderful polychrome painted Jicarilla Apache Elk hide from the late 20th century. The painting is done on the smooth side of the tanned golden colored hide. The painting is done in red, brown and black geometric design. The painting is a "Box in a Boarder" style off center that is typical in the Ute and Jicarilla tribes. The hide has been tanned very well and is strong as well as very soft and pliable. The edges of the hide have a few small holes from where it was hung for display. The edges of the hide show the unique marks from the skinning process. The hide measure 78" x 68". The hide and artwork are in very good condition. This piece will make quite the statement wherever it is displayed.
