This is an original work of art bronze sculpture by Joe Beeler CAA (Cherokee, 1931-2006). Joe Neil Beeler was an American artist and sculptor who was renowned in Western Art. In 1965, he cofounded the Cowboy Artists of American (CAA) with Charlie Dye, John Hampton and George Phippen. Born part Cherokee Indian in Joplin, Missouri 1931, at an early age he started his journey of an artist through the Kansas State Teachers College and alter the Art Center of Design in Los Angeles, California. His works are in or have been displayed in a number of museums such as the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Woolaroc Museum, Montana Historical Society, Charles M. Russel Museum, Heard Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art and the Institute of Texan Cultures. The piece is signed on the from JOE BEELER. The back is marked, from Eddie Basha. Eddie Basha or Edward Najeeb Basha Jr. (1937-2013) was the Chairman and CEO of Bashas', Inc. a grocery store chain in Arizona. He was an avid collector of Western American and American Indian art. He created a museum in Chandler, Arizona, The Eddie Basha Collection and has loaned masterworks from his collection to The Autry, The Booth Museum, The Rockwell Museum, Western Spirit: Scottsdale Museum of the West, Heard Museum, Eiteljorg Museum amongst others. This piece was commissioned by Eddie Basha and done by Joe Beeler. The work shows a Montana Crow or Montana Gros Ventre Indian wearing a split horn Bison Buffalo headdress war bonnet. Provenance: From the Sundog Gallery Bruce VanLandingham collection. The work is solid bronze and is in good condition. Measures 3.25" in diameter.
