Featured in this lot we have a Johann Jakob Reeb German side by side black powder double barrel shotgun chambered in 16 gauge. Johann Jakob Reeb (1843-1924) was a German gunsmith based out of Bonn, Germany known for his shotguns and drilling rifles with this shotgun originating from around the 1890s to early 1900s. This shotgun displays a 28 3/4" long side by side barrels, figured stock, hammer designs, double triggers, and etched designs. The shotgun features 4 etched landscape scenes with ornamental designs across the metal receiver and one on a metal plate at the bottom of the stock. The etched scenes depict deer, game fowl, and boar with the etching on the stock showing a fox. The barrels are marked across the top reading "Joh. Jac. Reeb. Hofbuchsennacher, Bonn" with the bottom of the barrel showing proof marks for choked barrel, smooth bore, and final black powder inspection with the sides stamped "2,5 g Sch.P 28,3 g Bl.". Mechanically the shotgun shows operational double triggers and working hammers. The shotgun shows good condition overall for its age with wear due to age and missing its fore grip. The shotgun weighs 6lbs 4oz. Serial Number: 52472/73. This firearm qualifies as a Black powder firearm, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
