For your consideration is an Antique Keystone View Company Stereoview of Chilkoot Pass, Alaska, circa 1900. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. Reverse of stereoview has a quote from John P. Clum, first mayor of Tombstone and publisher of the Tombstone Epitath newspaper. In 1898 Clum was appointed Postal Inspector for the District of Alaska, the federal government's designation for Alaska from 1884 to 1912. During a five-month period he traversed 8,000 miles (13,000 km) in the Alaskan territory, equipping existing post offices and establishing seven new post offices. The stereoview is titled, "9191- Bound for the Klondike Gold Fields, Chilkoot Pass, Alaska". Logo on the left border, "Keystone View Company, Manufacturers and Publishers." Right border is labeled, "Meadville, Pa. St. Louis, Mo. Copyright 1898, by B. L. Langley." Reverse has title translated into German, Italian, French, Spanish, Frisian, and Norwegian. Quote by John Clum has 1900 copyright.
