For your consideration is this first edition copy of, "John Singleton Copley - American Portraits in Oil Pastel and Miniature, with Biographical Sketches" by Barbara Neville Parker & Anne Bolling Wheeler published and copy-righted by Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA 1938. This book records Copley's American portraits created before to his departure for England in 1774. It is divided into sections based on medium—oil paintings, pastels, sketches, engravings, and miniatures—and the portraits are classified alphabetically by the sitter's name. It also includes attributed pictures and images whose locations were unknown at the time of publishing. The book opens with a 12-page biographical biography of Copley and is illustrated with 130 black-and-white plates that provide visual connections to his work. The book is bound in a light blue cloth hardcover and features gold gilt lettering on the spine.
