For your consideration is this hand crafted, Joseph Schnell Model 50 leather and split willow fishing creel made in the 1930-40s in Portland, Oregon. Joseph Schnell was one of the creel makers in Portland, Oregon, during the 1920s and 1930s. He was linked with the George Lawrence firm, but also created creels under his own name with his own distinct style and tooling patterns. This creel shows a tight split willow weave and is reinforced with beautiful leather with intricate tooled, geometric designs. The top features a hole to throw fish in after catching them and the back shows a small handle for carrying. No shoulder strap included with this creel. The back is stamped showing the model number reading, "50". It has been signed by the previous owner to the right of the stamp reading, "Hubert Leonard". The creel shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. It measures 7 1/4" L x 16 1/2" W x 10 3/8" H and weighs 2 pounds and 10 ounces.
