Featured in this lot is a Judaica, Israeli ram's horn, shofar signaling horn, circa mid 20th century. The shofar features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ram's horn construction that is hollowed out and shows grooves for hand holds. Israeli shofars are traditional musical instruments made from ram’s horns, deeply rooted in Jewish religious and cultural practice. Used for thousands of years, especially during the High Holy Days such as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the shofar's powerful, unpolished sound is meant to awaken spiritual reflection and repentance. Handcrafted primarily in Israel, many shofars are made from the horn of the kudu or ram and vary in shape and size, with Yemenite styles being long and spiraled. Beyond religious use, the shofar also symbolizes Jewish resilience and identity. The condition of this Israeli Shofar is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this shofar horn are 29 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 5". The collective weight of this shofar is 1lb 8oz.*
