Presented in this lot is an Original Signed Kiowa Robert Redbird "The Powwow Way" Print, circa late 20th century. Robert Redbird Sr. (1939-2016) was a Native American artist who painted in order to preserve and communicate the Kiowa culture. He is known primarily for his blanket-wrapped Southern Plains Indians figures and depiction of Kiowa folklore. Redbird worked in several media but is most well known for having accomplished his works with an airbrush. Redbird's work features Kiowa culture, history, stories, and legends passed down to him by his grandfather and by William Tenedah (his wife's grandfather). Robert worked with oil, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, pencil, pastel, pen & ink, and prints. He also served as a cultural consultant on several motion pictures, including the 1990 film, Dances With Wolves. This print features Redbird's signature and feather logo on the bottom right corner. A geometric design is located at the bottom left and right borders, "To give dignity to a man is above all things. Indian Proverb" is written across bottom border. The print is in very nice condition, mounted in a double-matted rustic-style wood frame. Frame exhibits slight scuffing along edges. Visible art measures 15"W x 19"L, frame is 21.75"W x 26.25"L x 1"D, weight is 5lb, 14oz.
